We welcome applications from all parts of Liverpool and beyond, and from parents and girls of all faiths, and none. Most girls join the Hamlets in the term following their 3rd or 4th birthday. Every child is seen individually by the Headmistress, to determine if she is ready to benefit from the Hamlets. Prospective pupils looking for a place in Nursery or Reception (and their parents) spend the morning in the nursery and are observed by a nursery nurse or teacher to evaluate their social skills and how they work with their peers. At this stage assessment is by play, informal activities and unstructured tasks: no formal knowledge is expected and the process is straightforward and relaxed for both girls and parents. Occasional vacancies occur from time to time in older age groups. For these places candidates spend a whole day in class and are observed to ascertain their academic aptitude, social and communication skills, and attitude. They are also assessed in Maths and English, with a standardised test, by a member of staff in a quiet room. There is currently a £30 administration charge for an assessment. If you would like to know more about the admissions procedures, or to book a tour of the school with our Headmistress, free of charge, please contact our Admissions Secretary on 0151 471 1137.
