Nursery to Reception

From the moment girls enter our bright, cheerful Nursery, they sense that school is a good place to be where exciting things happen.

The Hamlets’ Nursery provides a warm and welcoming introduction to our school family, where the girls take their first steps on their path of learning.

The aim of our nursery programme is to foster the girls’ curiosity about the world around them. Creative challenges and opportunities ensure that pupils are actively engaged in their learning from the outset.

Girls join the Nursery from three years of age and are taught by specialist teachers and qualified Nursery Nurses.

Following Nursery, Reception year continues to allow children to develop their learning through play. Activities are planned to thoroughly cover personal, social and emotional, communication and literacy, mathematical, physical knowledge, understanding of the world, and creative development.

Progression to Reception is automatic. This is a smooth transition; girls are already familiar with both Reception teachers and teaching assistants thanks to the close links that are enjoyed within the Foundation Stage.
